Original WWII stretcher fitted in the Sentinel. Airventure 2009. Copyright EAA 2009.
The folding litter decks were made to support the stretcher while still being light enough to allow for increased loads. They were made of balsa wood sandwiched between mahogany plywood with stainless steel sheet adhered to the top. The stainless allowed for easy clean-up... A harsh reality of the Sentinel in combat.
